RULES

Equipments :

The maximum ski length permitted is 2.05 metres. Equipment can be checked at any moment during the competition. The non-respect of this rule will result in a 15 minutes penalty for the team.

Start :

All competitors must be holding their skis, poles or snowboard while running to the gondola station. Participants are allowed to wear shoes, boots or running shoes to run. They can put on their ski or snowboard boots into the gondola.

Breaks :

A candidate or team may take unlimited breaks during the competition but must continue competing until 12.00 midday on Sunday to qualify. Only one team member shall be considered as participating in the race at any one time. Team members may take turns participating at will. The total number of runs completed by each team will be calculated by mountain officials and this will determine the winners of each category.

Number (Bib) :

A numbered bib will be handed out to each team when registering. This must be worn visibly at all times. Each team will receive only one bib. A bib with a red number is given to the performance division while a black one is reserved for the participative division.

Supporters :

The supporter of a participant is admitted into the trail only from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. The supporter must wear the armband and be accompained by the competitor.

The supporters' zone at the Gondola Station (base) is reserved for only one person per team at any time. The armband provided must be worn in order to gain entry to this zone.

The participant must take off his skis, snowboard and poles alone, without any help from other team members or supporters and enter the gondola station holding his equipment.

Checks :

A speed check zone will be set up in both trails ie. the Beaupré and Gros Vallon. This will allow judges to evaluate competitors' speed and control over a certain distance and at a specific point in their run.

Judges will be using a flag warning system. A Yellow Flag means you MUST slow down. The Red Flag means you MUST report to the Prison Zone at the Gondola Station (base).

Trailside Officials will be clearly visible and should be obeyed and respected at all times.

Safety :

Ski Patrol will be on duty around the clock at the top of the mountain for the duration of the event. Event organizers and trailside officials are equipped with radios in case of emergency. All participants are required to assist anyone injured and to report any accidents to the event organizers.

Helmet :

As ski and snowboard practice imply elements of risk, the helmet is highly recommended.

Priority Entrance :

Participants will benefit from the exclusive use of a “24 Hours” lift entrance to avoid congestion when entering the Gondola Station. This is reserved for the use of those racing only. Please remain courteous towards other clients and participants at all times (No Pushing). A disrespectful attitude will be rewarded with a visit to the Prison zone.

Refreshments :

Participants are encouraged to take refreshment breaks at the Gondola Station (base). The “Pasta Supper” included is available at the “Rond-Point” restaurant (summit) between 5.30 and 8.30 pm. Sunday Morning breakfast vouchers are valid from 6.00 to 8.00 am at the Summit Café and the 24 Hours Brunch will be served at 1.00 pm at the Chouette Bar.

Grooming and trail switch :

Participants must be aware that they will have to switch trail during the event. They have to listen to the instructions of the staff inside the gondola station and at the summit to know exactly when the changes will occur and be directed immdiately to the good trail.

Warm Clothing :

Given that this event is being held overnight in January, cold weather should be anticipated. Participants should dress warmly, especially as the 24 Hours is a race based on endurance and not speed (no need for skinsuits or aerodynamic helmets!!!)

Reserved trails :

Members of a team belonging to the Performance division have to stay in the trails that have been reserved to them, which are the Beaupré during normal operation hours, and the Gros Vallon during the night.

Members of a team from Participative division have to ride on the south side of the mountain during normal operation hours and must pass by the gondola station between every run. The Beaupré is strictly reserved for them during night.

The 24 Hours is a challenge based on pleasure, endurance and not speed!
