Volkswagen Spring Madness 2008: already a classic!


Mont-Sainte-Anne has unveiled one of its best concoction’s yet: the Volkswagen Spring Madness program 2008, already destined to be a classic.  Stretching out until April 27th, spring skiing at Mont-Sainte-Anne has already been rewarded as best in the East by Ski Canada magazine.  The festive week-ends to come will feature shows by indie darlings Creature and Surferigno as well as the Lost Fingers, friendly competitions with acrobatic skiing champions Pierre-Alexandre Rousseau and Vincent Marquis as well as a Snow sports School challenge and even a wine tasting at the summit!  And the best part, over 7 meters of snow since the beginning of the season that guarantee exceptional snow conditions across 100% of our terrain!

One might say the Volkswagen Spring Madness event is like a good bottle of wine, it just keeps getting better as it ages.  True connoisseurs will find that the 2008 edition combines all the distinctive elements of a truly savorous spring skiing.  One can perceive the aroma of a sizzling BBQ, the playful presence of bubbly spas, the dominance of sun drenched terraces and the lively character of a truly, kick-ass, musical line-up!  The 2008 Volkswagen Spring Madness should be consumed with friends, without moderation!

March 29-30: Volkswagen Freestyle with Creature and Surferigno
This first intense week-end sets the standard for all to come!  Saturday, Volkswagen welcomes all VW owners and offers them a VIP parking, complete with a car wash and touch-ups.  The crowd can also try out the 2009 models.  A unique booth with graffiti artists will be handing out t-shirts created on the spot for those interested, free of charge!  At the base of the mountain, pros at the mini snow-park are there to put on a show and give tips to those who want to try out some stunts.  Prizes will be given after a jam, by major industry players such as Forum, Armada and Skull Candy, Rome and Roxy.  The sound track for the afternoon is played by the indie music darlings Creature, a rock-pop disco that will have you smiling and dancing in no time, and Surferigno, a rock-surf type band reminiscent of the Beach Boys and Queen!  On Sunday, DJ Byron Maiden will groove the stage.

April 5-6: Pierre-Alexandre Rousseau and Vincent Marquis at the Bud Light Fest
The 2007 World Champion and the 2008 World Cup circuit gold medalist en acrobatic skiing/moguls will take part in a friendly competition.  The run?  A specially constructed track that includes moguls and obstacles at the base of the slopes, so everyone can enjoy the show!  The champions will dual it out in a first run and then everyone is invited to try and measure up to their performance!  All participants will gain access to the Bud Light VIP zone and enjoy the privileges that come with.  The day’s entertainments are cover-bands One Way and Body Groove, playing on the main stage from 1 to 5:30pm.  On April 6th, DJ Byron is back to rock the stage from 1 to 6pm.

April 12-13: Quebec snow sports schools battle it out !
All the province’s ski and snow sports schools head to Mont-Sainte-Anne to take part in a week-end long challenge, to know which school is the fairest of all!  Instructors from everywhere will defend their school’s colours in a GS dual!  They can expect the royal treatment while they’re here: smoking bbq, spas, animation and a live band on the main stage... followed by a huge Après-ski after-party where the top schools will be commended.  With the party animal reputation instructors have, let’s hope the mountain is still standing after they have left...  The band 6 O’clock jam will be there all day and night with their energetic play list of classic and recent hits!

April 19-20: fine skiing, fine dining and fine wines at the summit!
On the terrace of the summit lodge, reach 7th heaven and surprise your palate during our gastronomy week-end.  Let your senses guide you to famous restaurants who have elected Mont-Sainte-Anne home for the day.  Chefs from the Montego, the Beauregard du Château Mont-Sainte-Anne, l’Aventure and the restaurant l’Altitude from the Val des Neiges are preparing tasty treats inspired by their most famous recipes.  To accompany all this fine cooking, the Corby Distilleries is on hand to sample many of their finest wines and spirits.  From 1 to 2pm, the Lost Fingers, a jazz band that only plays pop covers from the 80s, will complete your experience.  From 3 to 5pm, the Crackers will are playing on the main stage.  All samples are sold 1$, all proceeds go the Sainte-Anne de Beaupré Hospital.  Now that’s what we call toasting spring!
 
April 26-27:  The Crazy Race for a crazy week-end
Compass and mountain bike in hand, teams of 2 will trek across the mountain searching for clues and answers during this classic spring rally.  The perfect activity to celebrate the changing of seasons!  For the less adventurous, take in the last day of the season and enjoy and afternoon with DJ Byron Maiden’s final performance on the main stage, from 12 to 6pm.
